Lead Babbitt Alloys
DuraKapp™ Lead-based Babbitt alloys are generally used in slow-speed engines and equipment under shock, load, pounding, and vibration. They can be used in slower-speed rollers, drives, motors, engines, grinders, and saws. They are much more common in older, slower equipment designed to run for long periods with little lubrication or maintenance. Like our Tin-based Babbitt alloys, matching the replacement alloy with the original alloy is the first step in bearing refurbishment.

DuraKapp Lead Selection
DuraKapp™#7
DuraKapp™#7 Babbitt, aka Heavy Pressure Babbitt, is the most popular Lead-based Babbitt. It is a general-purpose low-speed Babbitt with good tensile and compression strengths under shock, load, pounding, and vibration. This Babbitt is specifically designed for use in slower speed, heavy load, and pressure settings in small or large Grade 7 bearings. It can be used in slower-speed rollers, drives, motors, and engines. DuraKapp™#7 Babbitt meets or exceeds the specifications for ASTM #7 Babbitt —also known as Heavy Pressure, Grade 7, or No. 7 Babbitt.
DuraKapp ™#8
DuraKapp™#8 Babbitt is a general purpose low speed Lead-based Babbitt with good tensile and compression strengths under shock, load, pounding, and vibration. This Babbitt performs well in slower speed, heavy load, and pressure settings in small or large Grade 8 bearings. It is often found in older, slower-speed shafts, drives, motors, and engines for elevators, hoists, conveyors, hydraulic presses and pumps, mixers, and grinders. DuraKapp™#8 Babbitt meets or exceeds the specifications for ASTM #8 Babbitt —also known as Royal, Grade 8, or QQ-T-390A No. 6 Babbitt.
DuraKapp™#13
DuraKapp™#13 Babbitt is a general purpose low speed Lead-based Babbitt with good tensile and compression strengths under shock, load, pounding, and vibration. This Babbitt performs well in slower speed, heavy load, and pressure settings in small or large Grade 13 bearings commonly found in shafts, drives, motors, and engines for elevators, hoists, conveyors, hydraulic presses and pumps, mixers, and grinders. DuraKapp™#13 Babbitt meets or exceeds the specifications for ASTM #13 Babbitt —also known as Grade 13.
DuraKapp™#15
DuraKapp™#15 Babbitt is a general purpose low speed Lead-based Babbitt. Good tensile and compression strengths under shock, load, pounding, and vibration with little lubrication. This Babbitt performs well in slower speed, heavy load, and pressure settings in small or large Grade 15 bearings commonly found in drives and equipment that require minimal lubrication and maintenance such as those in material handling and mixing equipment. DuraKapp™#15 Babbitt meets or exceeds the specifications for ASTM #15 Babbitt —also known as Durite, MicroGrain, Grade 15, or QQ-T390A No. 10 Babbitt.
