Soldering coppers are typically heated with gas or a Cast Iron furnace. They are usually purchased in pairs to allow the user to heat one soldering copper while using the other.
PRODUCT DETAILS & APPLICATIONS
Genuine drop forged coppers hold their heat longer than imitations and composites. Keep your coppers clean and tinned using HiPure™ Sal Ammoniac block. Handles are included. In general, heavier 3 lb. soldering coppers are designed for soldering thicker metals whereas lighter 2 lb. soldering coppers are designed for soldering thinner metals.
Irons are available in Chisel or Pointed tip. The shape of the tip dictates how much heat the soldering copper is able to maintain and for how long. Tips with a chisel surface hold more heat for a longer period of time and are used for larger surfaces requiring higher temperatures to solder. Pointed tips allow the user to be precise in smaller surface applications that don’t require as much heat.
