SAC (Tin-Silver-Copper) solders are lead-free alloys commonly used in electronic soldering. They are favored for their mechanical strength, thermal fatique resistance, and eco-friendliness.

 

Composition & Variants:

SAC solder consists primarily of tin (Sn), silver (Ag), and copper (Cu). The most common variants include:

  • SAC 305 (3% silver, 0.5% Copper) - widely used due to its balance between cost and performance.
  • SAC 405 (4% silver, 0.5% Copper) - offers slightly better mechanical properties, but often higher cost.
  • SAC 0307 (0.3% Silver, 0.7% Copper) - lower silver content often makes it more affordable while maintaining good solderability
  • SAC 387 (3.8% Silver, 0.7% Copper) - similar to SAC 305 but the additional silver and copper content add additional strength
